Player guide · spoiler-light
Build a life you can stand behind.
Be You is about the tradeoffs behind success: what you protect, what you spend, who you keep close, and how much control you are willing to surrender. This guide explains the systems without revealing the discoveries waiting later in the life.
The objective
What are you trying to achieve?
Complete 20 consequential decisions and discover one of The Independent Mogul’s eight possible legacy endings. Future Career Packs can introduce new lives and additional legacies, so the wider Be You catalog can grow beyond eight.
There is no universal definition of winning. The challenge is to build a coherent version of success while managing its costs.
Some choices improve one part of the life by putting pressure on another. Earlier promises, relationships, and repeated behavior can matter later, so play according to the values you want the life to express—not only the largest immediate increase.
The decision loop
How a life moves forward
Every scene follows the same readable rhythm while the systems beneath it remember the choices you make.
- 01
Read the moment
Each scene presents a career, relationship, ownership, or wellbeing tradeoff. Take in the situation before looking for the safest answer.
- 02
Read the signals
Arrows preview the direction a choice may push the visible stats. They are guidance, not a complete forecast of everything the life will remember.
- 03
Commit to a choice
Your decision changes the state of the life. Read what followed, then use Face what follows to continue when you are ready.

Complete the life

Your state
What the stats mean
Stats describe the life you are carrying into the next decision. They are signals, not grades. A high number can create leverage, while imbalance can make later tradeoffs harder.
- Wealth
- Financial room and usable resources.
- Fame
- Public visibility, reach, and attention.
- Craft
- The quality and mastery of your work.
- Wellbeing
- Health and the ability to sustain the life you are building.
- People
- The strength of the relationships that matter.
- Trust
- Credibility earned with people and the wider world.
- Energy
- Near-term capacity for demanding choices and opportunities.
- Pressure
- Accumulated strain and exposure. More pressure is harder to absorb.
- Control
- Ownership and decision-making authority over your work.
The living chamber
The room is part of the feedback.
The hero artwork, lighting, atmosphere, and motion respond to the life taking shape—its accumulated choices, present pressures, relationships, and commitments. Visual change is another way the game reflects what your decisions are building.
During a decision, tap the artwork or use View artwork to lower the decision panel. Use Raise decisions to bring the same choice back when you are ready to continue.
Play with intention
Useful guidance, without the answers
- Look for a pattern you believe in rather than trying to maximize every number.
- Watch Energy, Pressure, and Control alongside the headline measures of success.
- Remember that an immediate gain can create a later obligation—or protect a future option.
- Finish the life before judging the route. A legacy reflects the whole path, not one isolated choice.

Audio, motion, and display controls
Open Settings from the speaker or settings control. Music and Effects have separate switches and volume levels, so you can keep the soundtrack present without letting decision sounds compete with it.
You can also reduce motion, camera movement, atmospheric particles, light pulses, and haptics, or choose Performance rendering on a slower device. Your preferences remain on this device.
